Storm in My Heart

Storm in my heart that rages …

There’s a storm in my heart,

now that we’re apart.

How can it be?

Yesterday we were loving,

one another,

yesterday we were kissing –

laughing the days away.

Perhaps we should have,

taken love more seriously,

for we forgot to stoke the embers,

that burned with passion,

letting them get cold,

leaving only gray ashes.

Now you have gone away

and there’s a storm in my heart –

that rages night and day.

No longer I delight,

in the joy of colorful sunrises,

tears mist my eyes

and cloud orange sunsets.

The purple twilights,

bring an aching to my heart,

knowing that the coming night,

will be long

and so unkind.

Bringing thoughts to mind,

that during the day I can hide,

filling my lonely world,

with a love I no longer can find.

There is no peace,

there is just no way –

to say that I can forget you.

It’s raining on my parade

and the music plays –

only funeral dirges.

Forget the good times,

forget the way we loved.

There’s a storm in my heart,

over you and over how you left,

left behind the love I gave you –

the love you threw away.

How can it be?

That now we’re miles apart.

Wasn’t it just yesterday?

We were walking,

we were talking,

we were saying –

I love you.

Forever and ever more,

now there’s a storm in my heart,

tears that won’t go away –

nothing left to say.

Total night, no more day

and the storm in my heart –

rages on…
