The Battle, Sun and Moon, CONTO 2

The Battle, Sun and Moon
The Battle, Sun and Moon

The battle, over….

CONTO 2

So day and night became the plight of sun and moon,
contiguous steps in nature’s loving arms,
but moon, although the lover’s precious light,
was still envious of sun’s life-giving,
and in time became despondent,
its fragment parts not whole but wanting,
a yearning that tainted the heart.

Sun, in sagacious thought,
did want to restore moons glow to all it could be,
and decided to offer one last dream
to give peace to the heavens,
and so it gave the moon the power of tides,
the ebb and flow of oceans,
as water too was a life giver.

Moon was so restored,
it glowed much more than it ever had,
and watched as it alone gave rise and fall to the tides,
and water as life reflected the undulations of man,
the very movement of lives,
and so the moon was gratified
and found balance once more within the heavens.

And lovers felt of heart the moon’s bright glow,
its radiant light the blessing of human love,
and no matter what quarter it presented,
that luminous light was warm within a lovers touch,
and proud that moon to avail such beauty upon the earth
that no love could pass it by,
without feeling its presence.

So lovely, Tony. Over the last few weeks I have tried to write a verse on the heavenly bodies and it just was not coming out right, so I set it aside. Now, I see you have written one and it is beyond anything I could have done. Thank you for writing this beautiful piece that has brought peace to my effort. I love it.

Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis, I just thought I hadn’t quite finished so I added this small CONTO 2 and now it sits well with me. Cheers!
