Who We Are in Truth

Who We Are in Truth
Who We Are in Truth

We carry the burden of our past,
colored filters in aftermath of change,
and how we see the world,
tainted by both positive and negative,
form the thinking that is us.

Every bias and propensity,
conscious or unconscious,
delivers the lines that become our voice
that place us in a perceived box,
the parameters of which we are known.

We are the sum of all experience,
some influential, others superfluous,
yet we are continually changing,
molding into who we will be,
as life exacts its toll on us.

To relinquish influence,
we must understand how they became,
see clearly the cause and effect,
and in doing so relent on their power,
to become more aware.

Burdens may become just memories
when understood; even harsh events,
and we may find freedom in clarity,
solace in understanding,
for accepting who we are in truth.

Accepting the biases
and negative influence of past,
is pointless in its forward projection,
for it taints all that can be,
in a wanted future.

So, live in freedom, untethered to past,
and leave memories to instil acceptance,
that one learns and moves on,
so we may have a clean future.
