The Waking of New Day

The Waking of Day...as dawn takes leave
The Waking of Day…as dawn takes leave

Waking life…

The mist lingered,
a frosted window pane to morning’s breath,
and life in exquisite silence,
attested this delicate veil,
as moist air a thirst to inhale.

And life in serenity’s awe,
stood watching the white rise and dissipate,
and warm rays infused their golden hues,
and the waters beneath
did begin to glisten blue.

Patchwork blue on waters new facade,
glimmered morning sky,
rich and vibrant reflections,
scant white clouds mirrored true,
as mist arose to cloud on high.

And as the waters shimmered,
all manner of creature joined the throng of life,
voices in echo across the green land,
sounds of ardent life in beginnings
planned the oncoming day.

When sun in full regalia,
stood atop the broken horizon,
the cacophony resounded in high spirit,
blessed by day’s potential,
and the glory of being.

Day then settled into its path,
and shadows lessened, in time’s extended view,
as on wing and land and bow and burrow,
all in purpose of life ensued,
as dawn bows, takes leave, the day she did bring.

Vivid and beautiful with such descriptive phrases. I love the way you can put the images and even sounds in the mind of the reader. That is a great skill, Tony. I can almost feel the cool mist of dawn as it begins. Wonderful verse. Thank you for the spiritual journey.

So pleased you enjoyed it Phyllis, I guess the practice is to describe the same things in a million different ways. That’s the reals test in writing: to remain fresh and unique despite the subject. As always I appreciated your kindness my friend.
