Meeting After A Long Hiatus
Long lingering nights …

Long, lingering nights stand witness
For the yearning eyes, gazing at the stars;
She rests immersed in an unruffled ocean,
Cushioned like a pearl in its shell.
The time has come to a standstill,
There is quietude everywhere;
She pines for him day and night,
Not even for a moment his face disappears.
Her head turns up, her arms raised,
She whispers his name, as her Heart
Embraces the emotion, and realization
Knocks on the door that he’s being missed.
An uncanny sound is heard through the sky,
Echoing her name in a melodious breeze…
She runs hither and thither,
Breathless, she bends her knees.
Tears flow from her eyes as if she is
Abducted in a valley of white crust;
She is confined with a chain – a chain of pain…
Some call just drops of water,
While her lover sees pearls.
She hears footsteps –
Supersonic this time,
And like a whiff of fresh air
He lends fragrance to her breath.
He gently takes her face in his palms, and says,
“Shh… the darkness has eroded and a new morning begins”
“Why did you disappear?” she shouts lovingly,
He wipes her tears and her Heart finds a haven of calm,
Lo! The two Souls embrace endearingly
In the meadows of lily and palm.
