I Live in Hope…for a better way

Madness rules the world,
and we in padded chairs watch with ambivalence
the escalation of insanity:
the murder, the torture, the suffering
of all life, under rule of humanity.
Repetition creates a numbness,
where even cold bloody death is commonplace,
and we pour another drink and turn the sound up,
not to miss the malice and violation of life,
that is collated as the nightly news.
We watch politicians squander opportunities of peace
to ratify their own bloated egos,
stuffing themselves with caviar and French champagne,
removed from the lives of real people:
the struggle, the suffering and hardships
orchestrated by them to meets budgets,
so they can fill their coffers and feed war.
Love is just a word that power does not understand,
where self is foremost, and all else secondary
to the ego, the control, the wealth and autocracy they seek,
and we, one vote wonders of a system lost,
have little say, for even corruption is beyond redemption,
beyond saving in a world
where compassion is a word of weakness.
I remain sane, for I see the truth,
and yet I do not understand
how strayed humanity has become,
how lost in ideals and without love, a life wanting,
without compassion, a life without connection,
and without forgiveness, endless war.
I live in hope.

And hope we must hold on to. I sometimes feel I am no longer a part of the human race, for it is all so very wrong. I would much rather live beyond the veil in the land of Fae. Great work, Tony,
Much appreciated Phyllis, I’m with you. take care.
All we can do is live in hope – while knowing that man is his own worse foe. It has always been this way, I fear that it will always be this way.
