How I’m Smitten With Thee
How I’m Smitten With Thee
A poignant melody, my lips quiver,
Midnight blue falls into slumber,
Dew cascades, and night becomes drenched;
Come! Be a haven to my Soul, O Love!
Ah! Conceal me in crimson lips, O Love!
I yearn to kiss thy fragrant grove
Quench my thirst with the wine of roses,
I pine to respire in thy sumptuous alcove
Cover my eyes with starlight, O Love!
I covet thee and the bliss above.
Widen my Heart, O celestial sky!
To the width of a perennial garden,
Where fragrant flowers
Blossom in my heart, and
Where the whole cosmos
Lie in contemplation in my Soul.
Elevate my Soul, O mellow breeze!
And carry it to an ocean of orison,
Where placid waves rise in the nucleus,
And my very core transforms into a sea of Light.
Speak to me from within, O Love!
I appeal to thee with naked gloves;
Life is a prism of thy glorious Light,
I soar to embrace thy effulgent height –
Like the mirth of a butterfly
That’s drunk with sweet nectar,
Like the grace of Jasmine vines
Ornamented with drizzle,
Like the hues of a rainbow
Coruscating the sky,
Like the rays of the Sun
Kissing the gentle eyes,
Similarly, I have fallen in Love
With my Beloved’s majesty,
O Supreme Delight!
O Divine wine of ecstasy!
O intimate quintessence of Eternity!
How I’m smitten with thee!
