Better Days from Sunsets Passed

Better Days from Sunsets Passed
Better Days from Sunsets Passed

Stretched between what a mind can imagine
and what a mind can’t accept in reality,
I fathom my path with wonder,
drifting in time and space,
gleaning my own truths
from all that I see and often refuse to see,
and within that balance of scales
I accommodate: what is necessary to survive,
and what is necessary to accept,
for a conscience unburdened.

Never has truth been so inaccessible,
convoluted and muddied by the darkness of fear,
and in conscience I must appease these fears,
in order to just live in acceptance,
and not bend under the weight of internal conflict,
being true to oneself,
yet fitting into a world that is so often maligned by itself,
so used to delusion and betrayal,
the lies become truth
and we fall for its dark deception.

Solace comes in the way of creativity,
an imagination that is constructed with hope,
and in its being,
the possibility that this delusion takes hold,
and no matter the reality,
should the world find comfort
then perhaps delusion is better,
and the more who agree,
the quicker it becomes truth,
by default.

Should we find life not to our liking,
dream of it better,
for those dreams are future’s glimmer,
and truths that disturb may find hope in imagination,
the key to a better world
but the wanting, the yearning for change;
and so I fly my ragged course,
betwixt dreams and reality,
honing one at the expense of the other,
to forge better days from sunsets passed.

Imagination has always been far more rewarding and beneficial than delusion. Very well penned with wisdom and an open heart. Great piece, Tony.

I too find myself wallowing in a place that is somewhere between reality and fantasy that I create through writing. When real life gets too difficult to face it is sometimes easier to escape to this nether world for a time. Great writing.

Solace surely does come in the way of creativity, at least for me. This is truly inspirational, especially in its honesty that although we understand the way to a beautiful life, we all struggle in our minds. Many wonderful lines here, my favorite, to bring a smile….

‘Should we not find life to our liking,
    dream of it better
for those dreams are future’s glimmer…’

Can I say, selfishly, just what I needed to hear today. Thank you Tony.

    Best,
    Mel

Glad it hit the spot Mel, as we all share and guide each other through our paths of understanding. What one sees the other may not and that’s why we are all both teachers and students in life. So appreciated you kindness. Take care.
