To Wish Upon a Moon

To Wish Upon a Moon
To Wish Upon a Moon

The interplay of light
as orange infuses the faded sky, is exhilarating,
heralding nights slow drawing blanket,
studded jewels on high;
and eyes adjust to the falling,
a moon rise soft and silvery assumes
the purple mantle of night’s attire,
as darkness prevails and life attunes.

As dry the air in daylight hours,
so it is as cool does quell the swelter,
the bite transformed to a soothing dark repose,
as if to say this moment yours,
to relieve the summer fray;
and stillness like a tranquil word
does steal the thoughts and worries heard,
surrender to the night’s gentle amends.

And slumber beckons all cluttered minds,
to let dreams acquire in space and time,
the beauty lost in concerns and ills,
to allow the mind be still;
and in this relent as thoughts content,
a mind can leave the day’s presence,
and future live in boundless keep,
aspired dreams in weightless, colored sleep.

As night transforms and stars do light the darkness,
moon inspired does glow in blue prevail,
upon every life and shadow, with softest touch,
the risen moon it says so much;
in lovers arms and hope’s longing gaze,
upheld by moon and stars parade,
to quench the thirst of souls desire,
and in wishes to come true.

    Wonderful poetry of great images of the moon and the stars in a magical night sky. Love that last verse.
