I Turned a Stone, just to see…
A Stone Turned…

I turned a stone, to see which side is smoother,
and behold the side that faces sky
is weathered more, for at rest
it faces life and in learning, more,
than just connection to its earth.
And we as stones, sedentary,
look to life and know of its paths, yet
it is in the flow we discover meaning,
become smoothed completely,
to glean the wisdom that transforms.
Water flows over a stone, smooths it face,
but until it joins the flow it can never know
what life is, in giving and gleaning
its hallowed breath,
its secrets held in height and breadth.
Life will share its glorious being,
when we attest and give our all,
for this endeavor is change and growth,
and to know our potential and to pursue,
is the life that we should do.
Often life can seem too much,
thrashing waves and storms,
yet without them we would not know peace,
and understand the lessons bestowed;
so with courage we must trust and let go,
to know the storms and that give us breath,
that lead us to a better life, and death.

Oh my gosh, Tony – this is one of your very best. I love it and will copy it to my personal journal to transfer to cloth and embroider. I am serious about that, for I want it hanging on a wall where I can see it every day. Wonderful life lesson.Great work.
Thank you sincerely Phyllis, glad it so connected with you. Much appreciated.
So lovely Tony..Just to let go and understand life fully, face all the storms that come in the way of our dreams boldly is something we all wish to do..But many of us are like the other side of the stone in your poem, always clinging to safety of the earth and not even looking up to the eternal sky and life..I absolutely loved the wisdom you share here in such beautiful words..Thank you so much..
So glad you enjoyed my thoughts Anjana, as I appreciate your kind words of support. Take care and have a great day!
