Accepting Who We Are, in Truth…delusion’s bleak attire

Delusion’s bleak attire…
Flights of fancy save our minds,
from realities we prefer blind,
yet illusions last only as long as they are fed,
and lead us not to wanted ends,
just delay a mind placated
and in ignorance accepted and sated,
we live an erroneous life of dream.
Dreams tell us what we are thinking,
secrets we hold from ourselves,
and without blinking keep within,
as no resolutions effect everything,
yet we may take flight in their name,
and choose wishes above reality,
the causality of pain.
Illusion is often sweet,
yet in time it corrodes, becomes bleak,
for no truth is built on sand
and fall it will in uncertain ground,
to expose corrupted thought,
lost to wants so desperately sought,
in the darkest shadow of truth.
Fancy is a temporary flight,
a transient moment of relief from life,
yet if held as truth for longer time,
it convinces us as real, and in mind to seal
a doorway to an endless rhyme,
where life is lost and reality too far away.
Truth is often hard to swallow,
our thoughts of self, our worth to wallow
in a sea of imperfection,
yet we have potential to rise,
and we must sympathise with our human plight,
forgive and seek betterment,
for truth guides us to our destiny.

Such wise words dear Tony…I think we all find comfort in delusion at times, convincing ourselves that our choices and ideals are correct even when we realize at some point that we are living a life of lies..some people come out of it and face truth while others just keep on pretending nothing is wrong and thereby wasting an entire lifetime..thank you so much for sharing your emotive words..
Glad you appreciated the work dear friend, I so appreciated you kind words and support. Have a great day Anjana.
So true and nicely penned phrases, Tony. Some illusions are hard to let go of, yet when we do then we find the truth that indeed leads us to our destiny. Great work, dear poet
Much appreciated Phyllis, yes, I believe the longer we live in delusion the harder it becomes to see the truth. However I would much rather deal with truth and see the world as it is, even if that is painful. Take care my friend.
