Worth the Risk of Sweet Love’s Bliss

Worth the Risk of Sweet Love's Bliss
Worth the Risk of Sweet Love’s Bliss

Love’s sweet enigma haunts my waking hours,
like a duplicitous lie of intention,
it casts shadow upon itself,
ecstasy and pain melding into reality,
devoid of malice yet blades sharper than hatred,
more disabling than death to a heart,
and yet from the highest flight of angelic bliss,
we surrender to it fully.

How does one intention
present such duality in outcome,
attesting our every hope and dream
to then destroy us complete, the loss of which may linger
in time’s iniquitous torture,
for so long our hearts may crumble into dust,
and our acceptance of trust
the very yielding of our demise?

Oh love, your song is so beguiling,
your dreams inspiring, and yet,
what lengths we travail to abide by your very ideal,
its possibility a risk of life and limb,
of sanity and the loss of everything,
just to be in that warm embrace,
to know sweet lips and by words of grace,
be loved fully and unconditionally.

Worth the pain you ask, oh yes,
that sublime pain when love betrays is complete,
a desecration of all belief….yet,
the soul aglow from love’s day,
or even a moment is worth the pain of loss,
for what would we be without love,
that feeling our greatest feat,
our greatest experience for our own soul’s sake.

So beautiful Tony..when we look back on our life, it is somewhat ironic that love has made us see the extremes of both joy and pain..we have to bear with it because at the end love is something that makes life worth living…thank you so much for sharing your profound words..
