Rain Forest Dawn

Rain Forest Dawn
Rain Forest Dawn… a world begins

The snap of trig underfoot,
sent a floury of startled flight,
while insect buzz and bell bird tolls
echoed through the dappled light.

And green flourished, risen tall,
of fern and leafy vines,
fingers exploring in matted profusion,
a plethora of form and kind.

And the scent of mulching death
and life infused combined,
such a raw and earthy, uplifting breath,
amid this beauty of sight sublime.

The constant sound a cacophony,
a vast and elaborate state of being,
as life, like one vast organism, moved,
its sight so detailed, more than any dream.

And light spattered amid the undergrowth,
shards cut short from canopy highs,
greeted floor with a lively glee,
diamond moisture like smiling eyes.

And still I stood in this writhing green menagerie,
as if I alone was inanimate, yet belonged,
each shoot and vine and leaf stretching for light,
a glorious flowing lilting song.

Here was truth, life unquestioned by minds,
a forest of a million or more beings,
the beauty of endless sighted life,
much more for all it seemed.

As light defused in rising sun,
and shadows came to life as one,
my heart did join this morning intensity,
and as those jewels did evaporate,
and the haze slowly rose to the canopy,
I blessed that moment, that epiphany,
of harmony’s righteous path.

What a lovely place to be, in wonder of the beauty all around. At least once I would love to spend time in a rain forest and soak up the amazement of that which nature bestowed upon a forest and on the soul of one who appreciates it. Marvelous verse, Tony.

I do love forests of any kind, but the profusion of life in a lush rain forest is really something to behold. Being surrounded by so much life is beyond explanation. So glad you enjoyed it Phyllis.
