Open Enough to Roll the Dice

Roll the dice in life…
What a mind cannot perceive,
it will not accept,
whether truth or lie, it matters not,
and so delusion controls many lives,
truth the opposite of want.
We cannot blame the ignorant,
cannot change their view,
for to them, truth is what they perceive,
right or wrong, and no convincing
shall make a mark on their resolve.
Smug we may be about the truth we know,
but is there another, who sees clearer,
seeing our delusion and its hold,
and we the ignorant, attached to our view,
when view is like a tidal sea, ever on the move.
Perceptions are attached to capability, not truth,
and our openness to truth more about our ego’s outrage,
so never think you have the answer whole,
for that would infer perfection
and not one human being can attest that role.
We are sentient minds with free will,
and that is a dangerous thing,
for belief can be what we want, far from truth,
and our actions based on anything,
so before we judge another, think twice,
are we open enough to roll the dice?

Very wise wordsTony..what each of percieves as truth indeed depends on how broad our mind is to accept it..thank you so much for sharing this thought provoking write..
My pleasure and pleased you related and enjoyed Phyllis. Cheers!
Sorry Anjana, slip of the pen.
Indeed your wisdom puts me in thinking mode. Perception always seems to settle in the heart and soul when it is truth. To roll the dice one must be darn sure they have an open mind. My mind goes back to when I was a kid on our farm. Dad had a lot of chickens and one of them was badly crippled but was content, managed to get around the chicken yard and in / out of the chicken house. When a neighbor kid made fun of that little chicken, Dad said, “She is not a dumb chicken, she is a lesson.” Funny that would pop into my mind right now. Very thought provoking piece, Tony, and well written. I like the flow and rhyme.
Keeping and open mind is not always easy, but many revelations come from being open to everything, as we may learn from people, circumstances and nature. It all depends how open we are. Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis.
