Oh, Eloquent Light

Oh, Eloquent Light
Oh, Eloquent Light…the oncoming night

Eloquent light,
as dainty as sight in moonlight,
dying embers of day’s delight,
falling to horizon’s slumber.

My quill embarks,
on fantasy trails
upon the white vast landscape of mind,
and surge do thoughts in kind.

Colours vast and intertwined,
like a swirling rope in risen sky,
seeking flight as birds aloft,
tugging on night’s dark blanket.

And sapphire glitter shames the fallen day,
as beauty finds new abode,
night sky flooding of twinkling stones,
blue moon radiance in sweetened air.

And shadows dance in fire’s wake,
and crackle sounds in flue resound,
like sibilant cries in soft warm rooms,
darkness held at bay.

And deeper falls that sky to night,
blackness set and the weight of day relents,
as moon rises to its higher plinth,
and sigh the hearts of rest to dreams.
