Kindness, Class 101 to Love

Kindness, Class 101 to Love
Kindness, Class 101 to Love

Kindness is a far greater feat
than love in expression,
for love is often tainted by the needs of self,
however, kindness comes as a selfless gesture
that in expression,
neither demands nor expects any return.

Love is our ultimate goal in life,
yet as an ideal few can truly comply
with its divine expression,
and in a hearts capacity,
kindness is an ideal in which to nurture
love and compassion.

Love seems easy and so expected in life,
as our one goal for attaining happiness,
yet it is so maligned by misrepresentation
and the clouding of sexual desire as love,
that love has fallen to misunderstanding,
and flounders in fear.

In order to be pure, love must be selfless,
given unconditionally,
not at the bequest of circumstances or behavior,
but freely given out of unreserved love,
for its own reward,
and those who misconstrue it
suffer the disappointment that will surely follow.

Therefore kindness is best
to follow an opening of heart,
for there in this expression
is the purity of selfless giving,
the reward of which teaches us the beauty of selflessness,
and then an openness to love on so many levels.

It really is sad what some think love is, as if it is only a physical pleasure. Real, unconditional love is kind and giving. Very well penned verse, Tony.

Very true..I wonder whether true love exists these days..it has become such a conditional thing, always expecting something in return..where as ,kindness, as you said, is free of demands, given just for the joy of giving..thank you so much for your wise words..have a lovely day!

Thanks Anjana, yes I believe that kindness is a sound beginning to understanding what love is. Take care.
