Choices of the Lost

Choices of the Lost
Choices of the Lost…vengeance for all they want

Serendipitous this knowing,
this seeing beyond the plain pages of life,
where all seems fine and as it should be,
yet beneath the truth runs rampant,
skewed more ways that a kebab,
and bleeding hearts find no resolution,
when under the smiles
a blade is wielded with passionate vengeance,
for all that life affords them not,
those who hurt for their own failure.

I see them so clearly,
persecuted in their dreams,
their delusions of victimization;
and so they hurt indiscriminately
those whom have what they have not,
as they covert what they believe is theirs by right,
because they are too ineffectual to achieve,
too indolent and arrogant to understand
that we all must take responsibility for our lives,
and blaming others is pointless.

My fortune in sight is poignant,
as I am surrounded by hateful souls
who hurt those who gave them all,
and that stab in the back is far from pleasant,
but it reminds me how fragile people can be,
and how lost and bent a soul bereft of love,
yet love has been their nurture,
and still by nature they choose delusion,
in some desperate attempt to heal
their own malady.

There is so much in life to choose, so much beauty and balance – why anyone would rather choose negative, destructive ways is perplexing to me. Love is the core of life and happiness – to choose love is to be alive in heart and soul. I always enjoy reading your work, Tony.
