Chasing Eternal Love

Eternal Love – When we are young, life and time seem so endless. We fall in love, we fall out of love, but, every once in a while someone comes along and you know that is the “ONE”. You both know it and you both feel it and you know it to be true. In a perfect world you end up together in perfect bliss, and your fairy tale is complete and you experience eternal love.

There is no perfect world. As you grow older life will test you and that love, it throws you a few curves. Sometimes you or your true love walk away from the relationship. Maybe you both were too young, too immature, family interference, sometimes you are not even sure why. In my case my pride has a way of wrecking havoc in my life. Tim McGraw sings a song called “The Cowboy In Me” the song contains these lyrics. I am not sure who wrote these lyrics, but they are my life. I know these words don’t just tell my tale, I know countless others have followed the same path.

The urge to run, the restlessness
The heart of stone I sometimes get
The things I’ve done for foolish pride
The me that’s never satisfied
The face that’s in the mirror when I don’t like what I see
I guess that’s just the cowboy in me

If you are lucky, as I have been that “One” will really never really leave your life. You or they walked, feelings have been hurt, your heart has been burned It may take years to reconnect, but somehow you always do. Sometimes fate intervenes and that “One” is dangled just out of reach. You and the “One” have never lost that love. I am a firm believer in it has better to love and lost, than never to have loved at all.

Eternal Love
The hands of fate have kept you and I apart,
Nothing is ever fair in the affairs of the heart.
I felt in the past and beyond before this life,
Soul mates, we were as husband and wife.
When I look at you and you at me,
Deep within our souls, we both can see.
In the present, our love has been put to the test,
You and I both know it beats within our chest.
Without words, we know what the other one dreams,
Fate keeps us apart, I can’t fathom what it means.
Like east and westbound trains we passed in the night,
In the present not on the same train that is our plight.
I know we are in his hands the Lord from heaven above,
Maybe not now, but he will give us our eternal love.

To me this was so sad and emotive. At the fingertips was bliss and like to ships that kiss the waves never touch and slowly drift away. Sometimes if you sit still it will come to you. Good piece Kurt. ~Paul
