Always Hope, In Abundance

She gave herself to impropriety,
immersed herself in desires of the flesh,
and sought only pleasure
to seal her earthly fate,
yet in her resolve the pain unexpected,
when those of iniquitous servitude,
did use her to exact their rage and violent abuse.
Her only crime was wanting to feel better,
feel someone wanted her with tender touch,
yet what she found was terror,
at the hands of malevolence,
and so she fell from lower heights, to deep despair,
for pleasure was ill-founded,
and pain her only share.
Kindness is not of the flesh but of heart,
found not in illicit ventures of hedonistic flight,
but in those who care,
who give of themselves out of love,
a lesson she was deprived in childhood,
and caring comes in unexpected ways,
if a heart is open to it.
So she volunteered for a homeless shelter,
scrubbed floors, cooked and fed the homeless,
and with each smile of gratitude she received
she grew stronger, her heart healing,
and she realized what she wanted first depended
upon her being kind to herself,
and her new found respect just flowed back to her heart,
and she discovered hope, in abundance.

Very inspiring verse, Tony. To be kind to Self is a beginning to a better life, an uplifted spirit. Well done.

Thanks Anjana, yes I believe love is trans-formative and the answer to human ills, if only people would look beyond the self to achieve it. Take care.
