My Hopes, In Absentia

In absentia I wish for thoughts,
not for myself but what in words I espoused,
to render dreams in black and white,
one step closer to light,
for what flowed through this mind
was kind and followed truth,
wherever that took me, in despair and joy,
I stepped into the darkness, open-eyed,
and wrote what the heart saw,
what the soul knew.
Neither special nor renowned,
art is its own reward,
for that flow of creative intent,
is far beyond the mundane thoughts of human plight,
greater that the stars that light our way,
for we are slaves to our muses,
humble servants of life,
blessed in gifted truths and sight,
to bleed of beauty’s enriched dark blood,
and nourish minds with hope.
In absentia, I will echo a million words,
each thought and phrase
the steps I took in following my heart,
and love I found many times,
not just in eyes but in nature’s beauteous play,
in life itself in vast array,
the meanings I hold to heart,
the pain and joy that taught me
how much I did not know,
and how eternal was my quest.
I am a humble servant of truth,
aspiring with all my human ineptitude,
trying desperately to live clean,
to love purely and to be just in deed,
and to use words to inspire thoughts
that may aspire souls to find love
for life, and transform a souls path
to one of compassionate giving,
and I do this with words,
my soul speaking.

And that soul of yours speaks beautifully, Tony, with your highest truths. This is an inspirational piece, opening my own thoughts to myself and my highest truths. Marvelous piece, great work.
Much appreciated Phyllis, so glad you enjoyed it. Take care
