Moving Forward

Moving Forward
Moving Forward…accepting change

Forward steps are fraught with fear,
the unknown always a doubtful, ominous path,
yet stagnation is our plight should we decide to remain
in the cozy warmth of the expected;
but in time we grow weary of the repetition,
and dream of new paths,
yet wish not to stray too far from the known.

We are far less fragile than we think,
far too stubborn for our own good,
and change is an integral part of life evolving,
learning and growing in a purposeful way,
and moving forward
the only movement that gives rise to wisdom,
and the door to possibility.

Change is often our greatest fear,
a future direction of no guarantee,
yet life offers no assurance of any kind,
for tis we who choose our fate,
and move when and where we decide,
regardless of circumstances
and what the present holds for us.

Living in the past is just as bad as stagnation,
for here we relive what we should have already learned,
and either berate ourselves over our failures
or re-experience moments of success,
to placate the worries of the present,
instead of using the present
to step forward into the future we seek.

We are meant to move forward,
to aspire, to learn and ascend
into higher levels of knowledge,
of understanding and wisdom,
and fear is no excuse for stagnancy,
happiness cannot exist in the repetitive
mundane stillness of inaction.
