Jacaranda Blooms of Summer

Blooms of Summer…
Dotted streets, of purple,
those delicate petals of jacaranda,
in full bloom lining every pathway
in this our Summer spectacular,
and as those petals fall
tis like soft purple shadows upon rough pavement
and so vivid green those leaves abound,
that every street comes to life.
And skies are clear,
that hue of deepening blue
stretching forever to and beyond that distant horizon,
no plume or white relief ensue,
just a Summer smile, a wry view,
as rippling heat at noon,
the shade in momentary cool, until
the sun consumed, by night’s relentless oncoming.
How I love those jacarandas,
their complex naked radiations of Winter,
vibrant green growth in Spring,
their purple mood in Summer, and
the golden dusk s of Fall,
always beauty to be held,
and here at my back door, and lining streets,
they silently resound in nature’s finest work.

I have never seen jacarandas before, Tony. Seeing such beauty in person, being a part of it, must truly be uplifting and glorious, Thank you for sharing this in such a well phrased, delightful verse.
Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis, they are beautiful trees and mark our Summer with beauty.
A delightful poem Tony. I love jacarandas and we have planted eight of them along one side of our driveway. They are almost everywhere you go at this time of the year around here. It is why I like D’Arcy W Doyle paintings.
Yes John, so nice to have them dot the landscape, a great time of year. Cheers!
Jacarandas are poetry for the eyes, I love everything about them–from their delicate leaves, casting lacy patterns, to that spell binding shade of purple. My very favorite, so nice to see a poem about them. Lovely. 🙂
Best,
Mel
Thanks Mel, yes they are wonderful trees and the suburbs around where I live are lined with them, so in Summer it’s spectacular. Glad you enjoyed it. Take care.
