Getting Back Up and Facing Life

Facing Life with a Smile…
For the fallen, desperate, disconnected,
life can be a drawn out series of suffering and anguish,
one thing added to another until
we find ourselves on our knees, begging reprieve,
for despair is not paired to poverty,
not alienated from wealth,
color, creed or culture,
it is a human condition, a statement of being lost,
beaten with no foreseeable hope of change.
There is no recipe for happiness,
it is a decision, despite the trials of life,
and despair is but a temporary time out,
a focus on suffering that leads to stagnancy,
and the more we wallow in our grief,
the more reality evades us,
and change waits for our first step to get up,
to decide to continue
and the path of resurrection can then ensue.
Hopelessness is a chosen oblivion,
for there is always hope on may levels,
and defeatism stills life like nothing else,
halting all possibilities,
just awaiting that split-second decision to push on,
to once again invest in life’s potential,
and being hopeless a statement of devaluing ourselves,
being unworthy of recovery,
so no matter what happens to us, we must rise and face it.
Facing life’s affronts moves us toward success,
for in it we are acknowledging fault and mistakes
that when remedied, can create all we wish in life,
one positive thought after another,
and if we nurture that decision of happiness
and appreciate what we have,
then the universe opens up to our goals
and anything then is possible,
the world ours to create.

“so no matter what happens to us, we must rise and face it.” So true Tony. I cannot say how many times I fell and felt hopeless, but I always managed to rise again and face what I had to. Sometimes it took every bit of strength I had, but I would be facing oblivion if I had not pushed myself back up. Wonderful advice Tony. Another great life lesson.
