The Evolving Plumes of Day’s Dressing

The Evolving Plumes of Day's Dressing
The Evolving Plumes of Day’s Dressing

As much as clouds
in glorious plumes do hide the sun, and
in broken sky their burgeoning white assumes
the blue in multiple hues,
they do dress the light with shades sublime,
and give character to a day.

So light and fluffy,
their ever-molding fate escapes the blue,
and trails across the vast horizon,
attests their artistry and intent,
their random flourishes my hearts content,
as I lay prostrate to imbibe their mood.

And on other days they growl
with dark and furrowed brow,
grind in grays and in light’s dismay all changed,
they strike the earth with thunderous flashes,
frightening jagged spikes of light
that stab the earth in vengeful plight.

Yet storms do pass
and the sun does give hope to change,
as clouds once again all pristine
arrange themselves upon the endless blue,
to inspire minds to see and know their beauty,
and to be inspired by possibility.

Oh how I love to study clouds. As you say, Tony, they can be light and fluffy or dark and threatening. The fluffy ones are fun to watch as they shape a running puppy and turn into a duck or … I love them. I once thought if I stared hard at a cloud I could open a hole in it, that was many years ago and it never worked, I got cross-eyed trying. I love this poem. Very nice indeed.

Thanks Phyllis, yes they’ve always be a fascination to me, its the fact that they are slowly evolving, moving and as you sit there watching, your imagination takes over. Glad you appreciated my poetic thoughts.
