Confessions from a Photo Session

A camera flash, and then another
Bodies move to strike a pose
Hold your smile throughout the day
Turn your head, look this way
Creation of an advertisement
Hope to trend on the internet
It’s nothing more than a picture
Brash sort of embarrassment
A little flesh to help the sell
What you say in what is staged
Work with me and you will see
Ignore the lights and look at me
Shutter snapping, one, two, three
Only grown-ups, no kids please
Animals move uncontrollably
Check your make-up, and your hair
Always watching, always there
Clicking pictures while you wait
Uncertainly about this debate
Message coming loud and clear
Listen up, bend your ear
Audiences we try to surprise
Sometimes we show a little thigh
Or more, oh yes, to get us paid
Lives are wrecked, careers are made
Some cross over to the other place
The human canvas, not the face
Bodies added like building blocks
Desperate for the glamour shot
Guys and girls, looking hot
Pictures, pictures, all day long
Stick with me, what could go wrong
Put on this dress, I’ll do the rest
Catch you at your very best
Soon we’ll switch to video
And capture all the audio
Each breath and its crescendo
Every inch from head to toe
Sounds great on paper, so be sure
Yet once you’ve been behind the door
Stories wild yet somehow true
Confessions from the session
All the quiet frustration
Lack of patience
Flashbulb blindness
All for that great chase
We call success

The mad mad rushing world of model photo shoots. I can vividly imagine quick changes and camera clicking away. Very fast paced and well worded poem, Ralph. Great job.
Social media has really changed the world, and how we perceive things, the photographer constantly looking for that edge, that extra step that will ensure audience. Nicely rendered Ralph, the feel and actuality of a shoot. As a young advertising photographer, I’ve done a few and how things now have changed. great work my friend.
Good work, Ralph. I enjoyed the photo shoot.
