Time’s Iniquitous Measure…being happy

And still the echoes resound in silent moments,
when life is wanted quietly pensive,
just to breathe in wake
of all that precedes in necessity’s will,
all that burdens a life in days.
For too much is thrown, too much accepted,
just in maintenance of our daily ills,
responsibilities and obligations
that seem to strangle life at will,
and bring us to our knees.
We work to live, fill our world with regimes,
but do they give meaning to life
or simply afford the life we seek,
yet do they in the end,
clog life with need not want.
And in that, unhappy we become,
the method outweighing the purpose,
our leisure time so small we sleep through it,
exhausted, never time to smell those roses
or even know those roses exist.
Stop I say, relent,
for money and security are fickle gods,
and just as we so vehemently commit to them,
they may fall from grasp at any time,
for they are untethered to lives, just passing circumstance.
Security is an illusion,
for life offers no guarantees,
no bulletproof investments,
no ownership or possessions define or stay with us,
any longer than a changing environment.
In life nothing is sure,
so why invest in risk, when all that’s important is happiness,
certainly not all the proffered pathways to find it,
rather an acceptance of life and a decision,
to be appreciative for what we have
and to what ever degree, be happy with it.

That is true, nothing in life is sure except this moment. To be happy is really all we want, and the way to be happy varies over time. I was ready to go to bed when I thought to check the site once more to make sure all is well – and here you are, Tony, with yet another great piece of work that is well penned. Yes, all is well, Tony is on board.
Thanks Phyllis, not long home as been out all day taking care of in-laws. Put just a few up and now time for dinner. Take care.
