The Sometimes Ragged Path of Love

Ragged path of love…

The Sometimes Ragged Path of Love
The Sometimes Ragged Path of Love

Sublimely potent,
the call of the heart,
where thoughts contained find flight,
and possibility races in transient plight;
yet the heart is our core of knowing,
when needs arise and beg the showing,
and we on bend-ed knee
must appease the yearning.

So unrelenting,
such power and mind seducing,
when heart does reach out for what it must have,
and we fall short of common sense,
to grasp that need and crave its owning;
and once held in afferent bliss,
the heart loses mind and this
is all we are, that moment strong,
life departs and we along for the ride.

What trials we bare
in the wake of heart’s desire,
the undulations that inspire
and also suffer the fire that consumes us,
lays waste our dreams,
our everything falls to dust;
when heart alone seeks splendor,
eyes closed in surrender,
to all that could or could not deliver,
in this ragged path of love.

    The heart does suffer when a dream or desire is not obtainable – yet when one is older and more emotionally secure in self, the dream and desire can become a comfort even if not realized. Nicely penned work Tony.
