Should Be Paradise…

Should Be Paradise
Should Be Paradise…far from contention

Give me sustenance,
for the world does strip me of my being,
the darkness encroaches upon light,
and thoughts pervade as fear descends on hope,
removing the possibility of reprieve,
as forces amass with such heinous intent,
in the name of worthless, superficial ideals,
that threaten our world
as if in last gasp of breath.

Weakened I may be
from this insidious affront, yet
how can I abandon what life affords,
abandon the beauty that life holds
and nurtures within us, our potential;
but heartless lives want total control
at any cost, seek gratification from destruction,
so lost are they in their own nightmares,
their own endless greed.

I watch their plans unfold,
and wonder what pleasures they derive
from the pain and suffering they create,
so lost their souls, to not even recognize their fate,
and the world cringes, braces for impact,
balance like a feather blown into a hurricane,
and prayers are not enough to change this tide,
this immanent, unstoppable catastrophe
that humanity inflicts upon itself.

Perhaps it is the desolation of futility
that is required to wake up minds,
to shift the paradigm to love,
to know that greed and power are meaningless
in a life of love and compassion,
and that happiness is only blinding free from burden,
those pursuits that exemplify the self, the ego
rather than brotherhood and acceptance,
in a world that should be paradise.

Great work Tony. When I was growing up my Dad taught me the beauty and value of nature and the world we live in. Wars and destruction were far away from our daily life. Now destruction of beauty and peace is more prevalent than ever. To destroy what “should be paradise” for the sake of power is something I will never understand.

Nor me Phyllis, I guess some people are just blinded by their own greed and oblivious to what life is really about. Glad you connected and enjoyed my thoughts. Have a great day.

So true Tony, you wonder how they think there will be any pleasure for them in a destroyed world? Very sad and destined to be.

Thanks Jackie, yes I don’t get it. So many people are deluded and pursue all the things that mean nothing in the end. Cheers!
