In Contradiction a Fear

How wide the girth, how deep the cavern,
where abyss claws open our darkest secrets,
where none shall pass to know of us,
our reality whole mistaken;
for we alone in unconscious fields,
hold tight the damning truth,
that in light would ignite a troubled life,
our screaming, blatant ruse.
Yet in the quietness of our lonely bed,
we ponder all that weighted burden,
hanging over us like a patient predator,
looking for that moment to arise;
when will is no longer enough,
and karma calls to bare,
when truth breaks free and in pure release,
darkness all lies and within light to snare.
For time is not on the side of lies,
and light enough holds no shadows,
so truths withheld are the goodness prey,
and lost those souls who deny;
then, we so sure-footed fall,
revealed none too soon our game,
and we, fear driven and deluded,
inept and untrustworthy we remain.
For we delude ourselves in the hiding,
the fears that led us to lie,
just bury us deeper in pretence,
and we lose ourselves in decline;
for honesty with self is a given,
a foundation of how we treat the world,
and letting go of ourselves for facade,
can only contradict who we are.

Very well rendered life lesson, Tony. Something all should study and remember. Yes, “honesty with self is a given” and this is what we should put forth to all we come in contact with. Great work, Tony.
Thanks Phyllis for relating and enjoyed my thoughts. Cheers!
Very beautiful verse Tony to say the truth will set us free. I sure do believe that and being honest with ourselves is the first place to start. Meaningful words!
Thanks Jackie, pleased you enjoyed my thoughts on the subject. Take care.
