Heaven on Earth
In the near stillness of Autumn
I believe I have found a heaven we can hold
if not the only one we can know
right here on earth
at least for now
And I begin to wonder how long we can
hold it in our hands
For I find heaven in the near stillness of autumn
a bird lighting on a limb
one sun one sky one day
And whether for you that heaven is a season
Or a new found love on a long lonely day
Or simply in one true friend
Or if that heaven is a grandchild singing
beneath a backyard swing
I hope more than anything you truly
see this heaven
That you come to know it for all that
it is worth
And hold onto it for all
that you can
Sometime in my life, I started to write about my life journey, or in poetry, in story perhaps to sort out the missing from the found perhaps and enter them into a place of safekeeping. The soul of the writer is perhaps best described in their own words, emotions and thoughts. If these poems or stories touch something inside you then maybe I have succeeded in sharing. I will not write about my self in profile, because self isn't so important in writing. Only the journey in words and the sharing are important. Why would we say "Now about me!"... I'd rather write about life, nature, serenity ...

Beautiful and profound in message: heaven is simply our chosen observation, as life is filled with beauty, not just in Autumn, and it is how we perceive life that reveals all that beauty. Nicely penned and inspiring Ed, indeed we can find heaven in so much of life, if we choose.
