Golden Wings and Other Things…the gloaming

The Gloaming…beauty

The Gloaming
Golden Wings and Other Things…the gloaming

Golden wings in blur of flight,
reflect the gloaming hues,
as oranges and golds dance upon cloud
and line the faded blue reprise.

As dragonflies head for light, in swarm,
seeking the glow of horizon’s end,
they soar in beauty’s receding warm sigh,
those moments left before the night.

How delicate this fading light,
this relenting golden sun of day,
falling fast to slumber’s lilting song,
enticed and bedded in play of dark horizons.

And as the blanket of darkness
pulls hard upon the vacant blue,
and stars emerge from distant fates,
to glimmer bright in diamond plumes.

Life eases back as shadows fall,
and nests do secure the day’s reform,
and in memory plan the morrow,
the gift of life and warmth pervade their plight.

And all is well on moonlit nights,
softest blue and cool delights.

Dragonflies are amazing little creatures, fiercely graceful in flight, bedazzled with color. I enjoyed this, your words capturing the colors of the perfect moment. The very best time of day.

    My favorite stanza…

‘And as the blanket of darkness
pulls hard upon the vacant blue,
and stars emerge from distant fates
to glimmer bright in diamond plumes. ‘

    Beautiful~

    Best,
    Mel

Thanks Mel, glad you appreciated the work. Me too, love that time of day: it has a beauty and sanctity as light transitions to dark. Take care my fellow poet.
