To Feel, Beyond the Flesh
To feel, an endless potential…
The afterglow is fine,
like floating upon clouds stilled,
and bodies sigh in release,
thankful for the exhilaration,
the joyful being of life.
Yet lost we may be in feelings,
as there is a sentient knowing lost,
not of love but of gratification,
the experiences we so exalt,
in a physical realm.
What brings uplifting physically
is a powerful drug,
one that has stolen a billion hearts,
and in addiction crushed lives
so completely, there is no return.
We have mind and spirit, flesh and choice,
and how we dictate our lives
the very saving grace
or destruction of our paradigms innate:
how we choose value.
What is delivered in love is far from feelings,
a melding of all body, mind and spirit,
and without it, empty those feelings,
without meaning and therefore value,
we choose an empty life.
Glorious our potential
to feel beyond our meagre wants,
to connect with all life on many levels,
and know what truly matters in this
our journey of struggle.

I was going to ask you, Tony, where your wisdom comes from, for you continue to amaze me daily. Yet, the answer is in my poem: From deep within your very soul. And a beautiful soul it is. Wonderful poem dear poet.
You and I have had similar lives in our connection with spirituality. I was a principal of a school that taught spirituality, psychic development and meditations techniques in Sydney. I also used to counsel people with addictions and those who suffered great trauma. I’m a qualified hypnotherapist and have studied psychology, philosophy and many alternative healing techniques over the years. This is just how I think, and poetry becomes just an extension of all my experiences. I plan nothing and just write. Glad you appreciate my work. Thanks Phyllis.
You have accomplished a lot, Tony. It is so admirable how dedicated you are to your endeavors. I think of you as one of the greats in poetry, like the old masters from times past. Proud to be your friend.
That is so kind Phyllis, and I appreciate very much your complimentary words my friend. Take care.
