Those Fading Embers of Love

Fading embers…

Those Fading Embers of Love
Those Fading Embers of Love

A Fading Love Goodbye…

Is it you or is it me,
or perhaps a universe unwilling
to set us free,
maybe some collaboration
of purposeful experience
that will hone each soul
to a point of right?

What glitch in time and space,
does now take a toll on us,
something missing,
something that felt like meant
yet fell to a sour accoutrement,
and now as dead wood,
pleads release?

Love writhes in final breath,
attested yet somehow unmet,
and feel as we do our doubts amassed,
we cannot overcome them;
so this place of in-between
is a torturous fate,
love bloodied and congealed,
what truth to sate.

Each step closer just pulls us apart,
lines breached and hearts no start,
in this truth that bares no joy at all,
an ending the only outcome;
and so I know that we tried,
yet love not on our side,
and I cannot fight any more,
it may be pride,
but reality paints a picture,
I cannot ignore.

So sad when one has tried so hard to hang on, only to see the truth waiting to be told. Very emotional and nicely penned, Tony.

First stanza: may be or maybe? honed (hone?)
    Second stanza: accouterment (accoutrement)
Fourth stanza: maybe or may be?

Thanks Phyllis, glad you appreciated the work, and for the oversights. Accoutrement is how I spelled it but my US dictionary came up with ‘er’ Because most of the audience is American, I use that dictionary for posting. I sometimes get confused between the two. thanks for that.
