Evolution’s Ruse

So eloquently revised to adequately instill,
the values brought down from generations of ill,
where all their mistakes are not taken as woe,
but replenished with verve and repeated just so,
while scratching their heads our ancestors perplexed,
as lessons unlearned have come back to vex,
and lost are the minds of so many souls,
still immersed in the material, and feeling not whole.

We started with paths of thankfulness and gratitude,
for life’s rewards of opportunity and aptitude,
feeling blessed for the sun and food in our bellies,
early man had a balance, and living was sanctuary,
yet through religion and beliefs we now in all truth,
are wanting far more than we deserve in our roots,
we plunder and strip the world for our needs,
and expect even more than our minds can perceive.

Yet still, we do it all in God’s name,
our excuse for our pious and righteous blame,
where life is about gain and whose belief is right,
suddenly contention is our only plight,
we fight and we kill in justified belief,
have no gratitude or blessings just suffering and grief,
and still in our ignorance we cannot be wrong,
our God is the only one, the rest just along.

And God sits on a cloud shaking his head,
the cavemen were closer to perfection ahead,
and all these hypocrites with robes and holy scripts,
have not the slightest idea about spiritual gifts,
just the monotone echoes of ‘holier than thou’,
that in selfishness dissipate, hardly heaven endowed,
and hatred is trending, violence just fun,
to a world lost in narcissism, in shadow of sun.

I finally found God,
when I dismissed all religion. Think about that!
