Charlatan Cloaked in Wings
Charlatan …
Charlatan cloaked in wings in the village did stay
Among the loving pheasants who worked hard each day.
The woman came to the village to gather sheep
To follow her and only her belief to keep.
Sweet she was and some villagers with her believed,
Yet some were doubtful, held their own truths to be lived.
Village Matron for this woman did try to teach
How the people were loving, and to her would reach,
If you only would see all was good all was fine,
This village is for all folks, it is yours and mine.
Nothing is yours the angry new comer would say,
You are nothing, you must follow only my way.
Happy were the people in their life so serene,
Their cattle grazed contentedly in fields of green.
Dissension charlatan caused, people were unsure,
Which way do we go, we were happy as we were.
Brother of Matron, beloved sea captain was dear
To all who knew him, to him they now looked with fear.
Old sea captain asked be ye true with wings of white
Or be ye charlatan cloaked in wings black as night?
Charlatan are ye, claiming to have more wisdom
Than we have about our way of life, our kingdom?
Follow me dear Captain and you will surely see
That life will be much better when you are with me.
Life cannot be better than what we have Captain said.
Villagers awoke, they saw the light and Charlatan fled.

A charlatan is a person who claims to have more knowledge that what they actually possess. They are
deceitful, frauds, fakers. They will hold tight to their own beliefs and cling even tighter when they see
others know what they are really like. Always follow your own highest truths and beware the charlatans of
this world.

So true Phyllis, the world is filled with pretenders and charlatans. A great message and faithfully penned in verse. great work.
Right you are Tony, they are everywhere. Thank you for the very nice comment. I appreciate it.
We always need to be on guard for the dreaded Charlatans, Phyllis. They are everywhere and very deceptive.
Thanks John. This is one of those odd ball poems that came from out of the blue.
