Are we the aliens?
We try to fit in with society and change ourselves so much so that after some time we fail to recognize who we are.
Are we the aliens in this world
Do you think we are the same
Are we the aliens down here on earth
Travelling down the very same lane
But now come to think of it
As humans, we have mostly changed
We do not recognize ourselves now
And we somehow seem estranged
We have changed with times
And times have changed
We do not know who we are
And who is to blame
You can blame it on me now
You can blame yourself too
Or the sea of humanity around
These are some thoughts to think through
We try to fit in with society
Compromise to follow the trend
Down the line, we are filled with anxiety
To catch up trying to blend
Are we the aliens in this world
Can you recognize yourself now
If you do, then you have not changed
You have stayed true to yourself somehow

Thank you. We sometimes lose our identity trying to fit in with the society. We should prevent that from happening and let our true selves shine through.
Great point that goes very deep Nithya. How many go through life never knowing who they are trying so much to be someone else!
That is so true; many people try to change to fit in and, in the end can no longer recognize who they are.
This is food for thought Nithya. Society and the world has changed so much over the years and we try to adapt with it so that we fit into society and are not viewed as outcasts. Some people stay true to themselves and don’t compromise their beliefs and I applaud them. Great poem.

Great work Nithya and I do believe we are. We have separated ourselves from each other and the earth, out of arrogance and greed. Nicely penned and emotive as to the changes that have transformed the world and not for the better.
