Undulations…defining our path

Undulations of life’s flow…

Undulations...defining our path
Undulations…defining our path

What brought courage today,
may bring grief tomorrow,
for the play of life is without flow in our meagre eyes,
unable to see beyond ourselves in this our journey.

No justice, no oppression, no favour,
just the flow of circumstances
to bring us to ourselves,
who we are and may one day be.

Our judgement is a blanket
with which we try to comfort ourselves,
yet quantifying anything
is to deplete its essence in limited understanding.

We should recognise the nature of things,
but to measure their worth or even seeming malice
is to not understand life,
nature and truth very different aspects of perception.

The undulations are experience without limit,
and the greater the rise and fall
the more pronounced the understanding offered,
all fodder for the sagacious mind.

So to judge anything apart from observing its nature,
is detrimental to any learning mind
with expectations of ascension and wisdom,
and very much hinders growth and balance.

The more torrid a life seems,
the more scope there is for real learning and ascension,
for it is never about the experience, rather
how we deal with it that defines our path.

Those last two lines brought something full-force back to me. I believe that it is what I unknowingly taught my kids when I was a young single mother and life was hard for us. To help them stay calm and not fear what could come tomorrow, I would tell them to not get stuck in what is happening, let’s just work on overcoming it. I guess that is as you say,”not the experience, but how we deal with it…”
    Well done, Tony.

Such a different perspective! Observing the undulations rather that judging it – understanding rather than getting overwhelmed by it. And I guess therein lies the sagacious mind. You’re always such a joy to read!
