Never will you be gone….Gone, but not forgotten … ever-enduring
Never Will You Be Gone…in heart and memory
I keep you tucked away within me,
never to escape,
the memories I have, as if yesterday
still resound, warm against my skin,
your face young and beguiling,
my dreams ever-enduring.
I can’t believe you grew old,
grey haired and folded skin,
once so rich and brown,
and your smile so pained, from what you suffered,
now at rest with the world,
gone, yet still in my memory.
Forty years and I cried when you fell from earth,
fell from breath to eternal peace,
and your face I could not recognize,
your cheek replaced with pain,
and I wished I could have comforted you,
when they robbed you of your smile.
I keep you tucked away within me,
never to escape,
all the times we shared, the love we made,
cannot fall from anywhere,
for in here you live, in heart and more,
my loving memories of you, endure.

That irreplaceable loss, so hard to let go, and to know there was pain makes it harder. I am so sorry for this loss of yours, but I am reminded of the beauty left in your heart, that can never be removed.

Thank you Mel, and yes, those memories will forever remain in my heart. As I just wrote to Phyllis, this girl was my first real love and died of cancer only a few years ago.
