My Wonder…

The fall of night, the cessation of light
does fill me with an ominous wonder,
such a profound contrast,
the sun at last to slumber’s reach,
and nature lulls to nests of warm repose;
yet some in breach rule the night,
the shadows their veiled cover,
a nocturnal search for sleeping prey,
unbeknownst the lives at peril’s supper.

And in my world,
the shadows carry other woes,
dark intents and felonious minds at work,
to undermine the weary, vulnerable folk,
who stray too far from home;
yet in this moonlit beauty, sleep attests,
the dreams of pleasured rest and hope,
that drive a resting mind to cope
with a world of often harsh reproach.

Yet love lives for the soft pale blue of night,
that moon so bright and endearing
that sets a heart to flutter,
despite the woes of reality
the utter despair of grace’s lament;
and luminous light does soften minds
and soothes the hope of dreams to bind,
the world and all our hopes as one,
as night sheds its skin for new beginnings.

    Oh, comes the night when slumber beckons under the beauty of the moon. This is well-rendered with vivid imagery, Tony. I can almost hear soft sounds of night creatures outside and see the silent soar of the owl. The image and your words create a peaceful feeling. I love this verse.

    Nicely penned and great imagery. Our muses must have collided in the night skies as I have penned a poem of the night as well.

    We often chose subjects similar in our creative renderings, especially here in our little site where we all share most intimately. Take care.
