Indoctrination Disguised as Higher Education

indoctrination

Ideological conformity

Academic conditioning

The open-minded youth

Needing guidance

Offensive viewpoints

Critical appraisal

Questions

Challenges

They’ve renamed them

Hate Speech

The Constitution you say?

Not in the classroom

Censorship

Speech codes

Don’t offend

Or be unorthodox

You’ll be silenced

Then shamed

Rounded up like cattle

Driven away

Ridiculed

In the name of Education

Or indoctrination

Who holds the power?

Not a student one

Reasoning won’t overcome

Passions and paychecks

Funding from someone

Materialism, sexism, feminism

Darwinism, and rationalism

Social studies

Political Correctness

Talking, talking, shouting

No voice but their own

The echoes forever haunting

Once hallowed halls

Where matriculation

Meant challenging the norm

Opinions without bias

Worthwhile learning

No topic taboo

No theory settled

No ridicule

Intellectual gain

Without repercussion

Minds molded

Leaders, Scientists, Teachers

Doctors, Journalists

Indoctrination

Education involves the seeking of facts, and learning about what is the truth, and what is not. Indoctrination is aimed at influencing people to believe in alleged facts, without being able to back up these newfound facts with anything but opinion.  Our modern society is quickly migrating from the former to the latter system.  When our leaders tell us that climate science is “settled science” and can no longer be debated – that is indoctrination.  No scientific discipline has even been settled in the history of the world, so why this one?  Education instead encourages differing opinions and theories to be challenged with debates being represented equally by all interested parties.  Indoctrination tries bracket problems of only having two solutions – you’re either with me or against me scenario.  Religion can be viewed as indoctrination since scientifically, God cannot be proved to exist, but the emotional response to even dare question religion or God is overwhelming.

I write about everything and sometimes nothing at all. I'm fascinated by old things, rusty things, abandoned places, or anywhere that a secret might be unearthed. I'm passionate about history and many of my pieces are anchored in one concept of time or another. I've always been a writer, dating back to my youth, but the last decade has been a time of growth for me. I'm continually pushing the limitations of vocabulary, syntax, and descriptive phrasing.

So true Ralph of all society, and education the first step in indoctrination. Secondly the media and films, creating false needs and conformity through consumption, and thirdly societal structure and assuming the valued paths of our predecessors. A well thought out and expressed truth of our innate slavery in a society that only cares for those at the top of the pyramid. Kudos

Very well written, Ralph. These truths will echo as more and more people wake up to reality. I really appreciate your author’s note. Great work.
