Implications of Denial and Choice…CONTO I

CONTO I
Alone, the walk of denial ceased,
and flooded was she to see the evidence,
the truths that sprung like blooms upon the path,
that in her heart rang true,
as wisdom gleaned from dust.
And she stalled not,
but leaned down to pluck one flower,
its beauty a reminder of halcyon days of child life,
joyous smiles and colored beauty,
the freedom of heart bared to the world.
Then set in gaze upon that bloom,
she knew how she had wronged herself,
her vision far from right,
a reflection of her perceptions of want,
a denial of the falling self.
Her steps grew weary,
her motivation mute,
and silence reigned in pointed scope,
to make feast of all that she did grasp unfairly,
in the plight of self-gratuity.
And knowing her grave misconduct, she prayed,
fell to the dusty road to plead forgiveness,
for her indulgence, her provocative delusions,
and in light of growth, of reality,
she did shed those sins, rescind everything.
So there, in broad daylight, she purged,
one soul upon a path,
basking in the aftermath of her own abuse,
where life was twisted to fit
within the limits of what she most wanted.
The true twist was what she wanted
was now delivered in pain,
for all she strived to be,
was what she now was in surrender,
to grow like those blooms upon a dusty path.

That last stanza …. very interesting. Seems sometimes we take the long and wrong path to get to where we want to be. Very well stated and well penned piece, Tony.
Thanks Phyllis, glad you appreciated it; I’m presently adding much to this, turning into something else entirely. Lets see where it goes. Cheers!
Sounds interesting … and mysterious! Are you up to a #1 seller project?
It’s most like Dante, really, the poem just goes on in trial and adventure, all is in poetic language. Who knows.
Intriguing. I love Dante. His love for Beatrice is great.
Very intriguing Tony – twisting, turning, writing – and yet you wrap up all this torment and searching into one beautiful package that reaches out and touches the soul! Oh, my!
Thank you Shalini, so pleased you enjoyed it. There are several parts to come. Cheers!
The title itself is grabbing, Tony. You have a unique way of putting your words together that draws me in.
Much appreciated Bill, I guess that’s the point, to draw the reader and to share thoughts. Glad you enjoyed it my friend.
