That Distant Glimmer of Peace
Peace is like a distant light,
forever a flame, yet so far it cannot be felt,
and like a star that glimmers in the night sky,
we can live in hope, revere its light,
but time has sadly passed us by.
No flow of circumstance can eradicate
the dark wills of men,
no truth attest the sad outcome that awaits,
like children we must feel the weight of loss,
before we can truly hold the freedom of love’s path.
And so the point of no return
swirls about us like flies over carrion,
an immanent catastrophe that will mark change,
because we will not accept it otherwise,
and who will survive our most poignant failure?
Love is the only path to freedom,
all else serves some only at the expense of others,
and the world now exists in a state of slavery on many levels,
benefiting but the few, and orchestrated to do so,
under a distraction of war and vilification.
Until that circumstance is broken,
until the world is broken and we face complete change,
then and only then will love rise
and a new consciousness pervade earth,
a new spirituality that will transform all that has been.

Marvelous! I love this verse, Tony. Yes, “love will rise” and “a new spirituality that will transform all that has been.” I honestly believe this. It is very significant that you chose the blue comet, for that is what the Hopi believe will be the Heavenly body that falls to Earth, the last sign of the end and the beginning of the new spirituality you speak of. Very prophetic and well penned, dear poet.

Peace is not far off but I believe it will be after terrible wars and all we can do is pray to escape them somehow. It is so close to the spiritual world I believe too. We may see them in different lights but it seems many agree with your belief of spiritual transformation. Who can hurt us then? It will all be about love.
