A Tribute to Life

A tribute to life,
those who lived it well,
regardless of obstruction,
of judgement’s wrath,
they remained true,
lived within their own paradigms,
and for that they stood out,
they were seen to make a difference,
and impact upon other lives,
so caught within the flow,
that spinning vortex we know, as life.
The mundane never rose to heights,
or quiet and simmering thoughts
known to make a difference,
it is the voice of purpose,
the resounding disdain for injustice
and the truth discovered
that rings in the ears of history,
as those who strive to know,
reveal, even at their own risk,
because that’s what it takes
to make change.
A tribute to those who dared,
to face and speak out against authority,
when authority had become lost,
darkened by greed and conspiracy,
and in that dim light of reality,
they stood, without reservation
and shouted truth to those so lost of it,
and even if persecuted for it,
they waved flags and stood firm,
to exonerate the downtrodden
and to find justice for those astray.
Adversity is a good soul’s burden,
for greed and gain are relentless foes,
and those with too much to lose
fight till their last breath to maintain their lies,
and care not the damage they cause
in defence of their illicit lives,
for they have no souls, no heart at all,
just a lust for lowly human exploitation,
and values of self alone,
unable to love anything,
or to know love beyond what they have sewn.

A majestic tribute to those who dare to stand up for truth. I love this, Tony.
Pleased you enjoyed it Phyllis, I particularly love what Lennon tried to do. Cheers!
I love that quote, well chosen. It’s a beautiful thing to witness that strength, in the face of so many, so willing to follow the blind herd that disagrees selfishly. And for what? Money? Power? It’s awful, sickening–I dare say it makes me angry, I don’t like feeling angry. Well done Tony. Sometimes I wonder if you speak poetically all the time, your language every day. 🙂 I just admire your consistent flow.
Bet,
Mel
Much appreciated Mel, and no, I don’t poetry speak, it would be funny though; could you imagine the looks you’d get. I appreciate the compliment though, Thank you Mel.
Imagine…..
if more people dared, if more people spoke out, if more people didn’t turn a blind eye…
You’ve brought out the need for this so beautifully, Tony. Loved it!
Thank you so much Shalini, glad you agreed and enjoyed my thoughts and expression. Cheers!
