A Wanting Life…a skewed reality
Wanting and poor self-esteem…

I ask why
and know too well,
the imperfections that guide hearts to lost:
lost from all hope of return,
lost to the cynical, malice driven responses to life,
to resolutions that consider only the self,
and in unfolding create much hurt.
It’s always a shock
to what extent people will hurt
just to maintain illusions,
and in resolution be justified,
a mind so bereft of reality,
it can do and say anything
just to remain in denial of truth.
I know, yet have to watch it unfold,
and there’s no reasoning,
not explanation that placates a deluded mind,
for they are an island, separated from the world,
abiding by their own
in the adoption of a created reality,
fashioned from fear and protection.
I ask why, but know
often there is no reason,
just the mechanics of delusion’s self-centered deeds,
the process that upholds stability
in an unstable mind,
exacting and venting pain to elevate
the poor self-esteem that plagues a wanting life.

It is such a shame that some people cannot be happy with just the simple things in life. The more they get, the more they want. And lies breed more lies. People need to get out more and commune with nature to find beauty and peace. Well done, Tony.
Thanks again Phyllis, yes, everyone is so caught up in the reality of acquisition rather than the wonderful processes of life and the natural world. Cheers!
It’s interesting to observe and question another’s response to life. When you know they are only hurting deep down, but it’s hard to understand, for me anyway, why a person hurting so much, is then intent upon hurting others to somehow lift themselves in an intolerable way. There seems no reasoning, no approach gentle or hard enough to bring them back around. I have one such person in my life, and its difficult to watch, and I feel helpless to watch it play out, as I have genuinely tried to be understanding. A thought provoking piece. Thank you Tony.
Best,
Mel
