Relent the Veils

Relent the Veils…not repeat the woes

Relent the veils
Relent the Veils…let me see the truth

Relent the veils,
the pride stroked assumptions of knowing,
to greet the vibrant seeds of sewn past
and fervent future’s showing,
in colors vast and contrast masked,
we tread those trails of all before,
and learn again the labor of our ineptitude,
to somehow grace a better place, in time.

Oh fate, kind will you be to me,
for I have tried in changing tides
to accept those harsh cold echoes,
and let these eyes know more than I,
to guide me out this compromise called life,
so I may will less strife,
those veils my only hindrance,
the lies I tell myself.

Curse those veils, their secret ploys,
that keep me ragged on my path,
and blind to see the aftermath
of all my cumbersome mistakes,
rather let me see the abiding truth,
beneath my own assumptions bare,
to know the weak and fearful lies
that hold me down and tie me to shadows.
