Perceptions of Malice
Malice
Perceptions and choices…

Fall I might to the lies of ingrates,
momentarily, for I choose to see the light,
but when darkness pervades and truth resounds,
well, then I shall not be blind,
for if someone shows you who they are,
believe them,
expectation is a messy assumption,
and truth a stark revelation
when eyes are lost to hope alone.
Disappointment may cloud my day,
yet knowing who people are
is far more profound and useful,
in the passage of life’s disclosures,
and in age I cannot believe fantasies
for the sake of being kind,
when souls are malicious,
and tearing your heart out
a flippant response of nil regret.
So I prefer to be vigilant,
understand the choices people make,
and when faced with vile intentions,
simply acknowledge them and move a way,
for it is not my responsibility to be the prey
of misguided venting souls,
for all their own ineptitude and offensive deeds,
and me, any kind of victim
of their waging war and vitriol.

Choices – we all have the gift of choice. Why some people always choose the negative is beyond me. Tis best to always stay vigilant and take care of Self. Very well penned verse, Tony.
Glad you liked it Phyllis, appreciate your continued support. Cheers!
