Forever

Forever …

Perspective

Do you ever feel –

that you could live forever?

Do you ever feel –

that you are in a dream?

A dream where life,

seems so very extreme.

Where you could be –

most anything you want to be.

Till the tears of reality,

come breaking through –

like wild waves crashing against the cliffs.

As life’s ocean swells,

as the tides come and go.

Waking you up to the reality –

that life is to be treasured.

Day in and day out,

from sunrise to sunset,

there is always something,

that will make you smile,

make you sigh

and even at times cry.

Do you ever feel –

that time passes by much too quickly?

You want to catch it with a lasso,

but you know that time –

is all in how we spend it.

Years come and years go,

but they all bring memories

and things to keep in your heart forever.

Do you ever wonder –

How to make the good times last?

Forget the pain of the past?

You know that age  –

is just an illusion.

It’s all in what we feel inside,

so let the child out,

each day to play.

Bring the smiles and laughter,

even though we won’t go on forever.

We can make the moments count

and someday when we’re done –

there’ll be someone, somewhere,

who’ll be loving us still.

Making us immortal,

just by remembering –

the way we used to be.

Your poetry is always so beautiful and enjoyable,Rasma. I love to read your work. Yes, even though I know reality I often feel I will live forever. Because we are poets, maybe we will live forever in memory. What a lovely thought.

Thank you Phyllis. Yes, I have often thought that the written word is what can make someone immortal when others can read what they have written long after they’re gone.

Life is indeed a mystery Rasma, and much of it could be considered an illusion, because it is not what we experience but how we deal with them that defines us and makes us whole. Nicely expressed, those thoughts of life we ponder. As you say, it is the love and memories that live forever.

Thank you Tony and yes, I have always thought that for you can go on loving someone and reliving the memories when they are no longer with you.
