Fading Memories May Linger Awhile Longer

Fading memories …

Fading Memories
Fading Memories

Let not the memories fade,
of lovely days gone by.
Tis all the ones we made
for love of you and I.

You stood so proud and tall
as you came to ask of father,
so confident waiting in the hall,
to ask for his only daughter.

Our days together are golden now
as we walk along in the park.
You turn to me, I touch your brow
when you ask if it is getting dark.

Evening on the veranda you see
the sunset through my eyes and smile.
Oh, my love, let us not forget our days
in the newness of love on this isle.

So sweet, our memories of the beach
as we lay on the sand and listened
to waves that so gently reached for us.
The wet sand on our feet glistened.

Each lifetime is an ocean wave.
Tis but one journey in eternity.
Each moment is ours to save.
Tis but one page of our memory.

Charismatic are the ocean waves,
blue and green with white foamed peaks
forming on gossamer edges that saves
the glow of sun in golden streaks.

Wispy and delicate clouds now drift
near the sun as it sinks towards the sea,
bringing us the lovely colors and the gift
of beauty that has blessed you and me.

I often think of how wonderful it would be to grow old with a beloved always near me. When I enter into my romantic mood, and my muse is active, my spirituality takes over and shows the way I have always wanted my life to be. I hold on to those hopes of a lasting love. I guess these are my golden years, though I am still young at heart. No matter my age, I will always keep my dreams and hopes close – and keep my heart open for when he appears.

I am an author on TCE and write mainly in poetry and short stories. I have always liked to write. It is important to me that writing comes from my heart and soul. When writing poetry, if I do not feel a spiritual connection to what I am writing on, I will discard it and go on to something I can connect with on a spiritual level. I live in the moment, I write from the past or beyond the veil. When writing fiction I go with whatever inspires me at the moment - it could be funny, sorrowful, romantic or sometimes done with the use of colloquial language from mountain folk or other cultural regions. I began writing content online in 2007, starting with BellaOnline - A Voice For Women, where I was the Native American Editor, Folklore & Mythology Editor, and the Appalachian Editor. I also wrote articles for The Examiner, Daily Two Cents, and Yahoo. I am currently an author on HubPages. Most of what I write takes a lot of research and I love it. Even if it is a fictional story, I will research for accuracy in whatever it takes to make my characters, their era, their location, etc. become realistic to the reader. I hope you enjoy my works. Thank you for visiting.
