The Sin of Darkness Whole…the Underworld

Sins of the underworld … darkness whole …

The Sin of Darkness Whole…the underworld

Shallow is the line
between earth and the underworld,
where lies are the vomitus refuse
of nothing left to loose,
and vile thought the shadow itself
of darkness.

Weighted by earthly desire,
by coarse and lowly self-recrimination,
relishing the deeds of demons,
for all its serves in pleasured sin,
of hurt and forced will
upon our brethren cast aside for win.

Here, in this underworld of life,
where hate is but a mood,
and violence an itch to scratch,
souls wander in flames fanned by lust and greed,
waiting for the blood-letting to proceed,
and a sated grim attachment.

I walk not this earthen play,
beneath my steps the demon’s prey,
and yet I feel their grief, their anguish,
trapped in lowly sin and all but perished,
hanging on to life’s least precious goal,
the sin of darkness whole.

It’s funny how I hesitate on this… as if to comment, I may fall into this dark abyss. Meaning, of course, I was moved by the expression enough to want to run away. 🙂

Very well done, sad, but very real.

    Best,
    Mel

Some times we have choices, other times life has plans with of without our acceptance. Often I think evil people are born that one, and for what purpose I don’t profess to know. I do know that we each have a journey, and that’s as diverse as life itself. Glad you related Mel, Cheers!

I have studied ancient mythology for years and it is rife with the underworld stories. I can tell you it is not a place I ever want to see. Some of my favorite mythologies involve trips to the underworld. As for today, it is quite different and as far as what it represented in ancient times. It is all sins, as your verse states. Very well written, Tony.

I finally got my laptop connected to the internet by an expert on such things. It will take me some time to get used to the keyboard and the pad where I have to slide. I don’t have much control with it, my hands are so used to a mouse. However, I will try to catch up on reading all the posts I have missed over the last week. For now it takes me forever to type things – I keep losing my place because I touch the pad and then cannot find my cursor. The good thing is no more computer crashes.

Hey Phyllis, you can always attach a keyboard and mouse to your laptop, if that helps. Computer problems are the worst, being so dependent on them for what we do. Glad you’re back and always appreciate your support. Cheers!
