A Sunshine Visit

They came to visit,
its been so long,
and they brought the sun with them,
in a dark brown leather case.
They unpacked and surely
the sun shone,
and has every since,
keeping at bay the last remnants
of winter’s will.
Their smiles kept the sun up high,
regardless of the brooding clouds,
the dire chill’s intent,
and everyday is radiant, as a consequence.
One more week,
for weather’s happy elevation,
and each day seems to agree in silent light,
to maintain its glow for smiles.
What will become of us,
when they are gone,
the sun tucked neatly away
in a leather case, heading north.
It makes me see smiles differently,
their radiance greater than sunshine, it seems,
and I’ll not forget the reprieve,
from a cold and dull winter.
So sad to see them go,
their belonging here and leaving unfair,
but I guess its just like the song,
‘always take the weather with you,’
for they brightened up our lives.
